Palmar is a hidden gem of an oasis. It’s a different experience that you have to grow into. It’s a lush jungle with a short boat ride in and then a stroll to the main reception area. I will say be prepared for beach environment as there are no roads, aside from that learning curve, it’s the closest resort to a beautiful beach with amazing and super caring staff. Everyone was friendly, accommodating, and really cares that you enjoy your experience. I was greated with a welcome drink which was much appreciated after my evening jungle trek. They have tons of things available to do and take care of all your connections and daily activities. I highly recommend the yoga classes it’s just breathtaking doing it by the water! Definitely get breakfast included because it’s a hike and boat ride into the nearest town. The restaurant makes delicious food and great drinks and pretty affordable too. They have special activities sometimes too like movie night or a bonfire or cookout. It’s a very friendly place with a very peaceful atmosphere. Definitely was more than what I expected and very glad to experience it.

This is one of the best places I have ever stayed. I reached it after choosing to spend 4 hours hiking through the jungle and around the sometimes impassable coast from the other side of the island instead of spending £12 on a water taxi. I saw red frogs and hermit crabs along the way, balanced on leaves and scuttling out of the leaf litter at my unexpected approach. I got to reception, completely exhausted, I was immediately handed a piece of paper bearing the wifi details and a small spherical, corked bottle containing a two-tone liquid, presumably some kind of rejuvenation potion in reward for completing my quest. The dorms are in cabins along pathways next to the beach, the beds have black out curtains, fans, lamps and usb ports. They were clean and comfortable. The restaurant is great but the food was a bit more expensive than other places I'd eaten, worth it though.

Our stay at Palmar Beach was an absolute delight from start to finish. Nestled amidst nature, the cozy wooden bungalow provided a serene retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by the warm and friendly staff, but what truly stood out was the heartfelt surprise awaiting us in our room. The crew had gone above and beyond by adorning our space with beautifully crafted balloon hearts, adding an extra touch of magic to our stay. It was an unexpected and heartwarming gesture for our honeymoon that immediately made us feel special and appreciated. The tranquility of the surroundings, coupled with the personalized touch from the thoughtful crew, made our stay truly memorable. Whether it was relaxing on the porch or taking leisurely walks in the nearby trails, every moment felt like a cherished escape.

This was our 2nd time at Palmar and I love the place. People are very friendly and helpful. The food is great and very affordable. We booked a massage with Pablo and it was glorious. I ended up booking one more for another day. I love falling asleep right after sunset and waking up before sunrise. Listening to the sounds of the forrest was amazing. Also, not having to wear shoes for a whole week is very feeing and grounding. I love this place just recommend a cabin with AC in the summer. It gets really hot. Bed was comfortable, room was cleaned daily and the sheets and towels were replaced daily, which was a huge thing since we had Beach Cabana and King Jungalow with no A/C and things got sticky from the heat and humidity.

The property is stunning. It's lush green rain forest paths to the cabins and dorms behind the resto reception area on the beach. The path from the boat dock is also beautiful. We saw sloths always near reception. I advise backpackers to stay in the 8 bed cabin. The beds are AMAZING! Duvet cover, 2 pillows, blackout curtain, light-fan-plug-window overlooking the rainforest. Huge lockers (with plugs) and hot clean showers. We even had a little orange frog in the bathroom 1 night! My friend stayed in the 10 bed and it had no windows and not as clean as ours apparently. Loved Pollo Beach 45min walk away !! Turquoise calmer water to swim in. We saw many red frogs trying to find wizard Beach (failed).
